Going into the 2010-2011 MLB betting offseason, and most fans are looking at which free agents will sign with each team. However, looking a few months ahead and fans betting online can't help but be optimistic at the 2011 first year player draft class. With that said, here are several future MLB prospects expected to go in the first round of the 2011 player entry draft.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B Rice - Rendon at this current venture in time is slated by many to be the best positional player in the draft. With a ceiling as high as Tampa Rays third baseman Even Longoria, Rendon should not only be a first round pick but either the first or second overall pick.

For all intents and purposes we suspect that Rendon will be drafted second overall by the Seattle Mariners. The Pittsburgh Pirates will most likely choose a pitcher as they have drafted several marquee positional players in the past few years.

  • Daniel Norris LHP Hillis HS - Based out of Tennessee, Daniel Norris should and will be the highest drafted high school pitcher of all time, as he will be taken first overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Norris is a left hand version of Giants Ace Tim Lincecum. At six foot two and 180 pounds, Norris won eight games and lost none, striking out an astounding 140 batters over an even more astonishing 64.1 innings. Norris is a three pitch pitcher with a fastball that can get into the low 90s.
  • Matt Barnes RHP Connecticut - At six foot four, Barnes has been the most talked about pitcher going into the 2011 draft. Although we project the Pirates to take a pitcher as the first overall pick in the upcoming draft, if it isn't Norris it most certainly will be Barnes.
