One of the most least wagered on out of any of the four major sports in North America, baseball is also the sport that can yield the biggest payout, which doesn’t make sense at first glance given that if it is so easy than more players would be playing it. But there is a catch. Only those that know how baseball betting works are adept enough to make the plays that will win them the big money, something that regular players won’t necessarily understand. Playing the favorites seems logical since some teams appear to be that much better than others, like the New York Yankees in comparison the Baltimore Orioles, a match up of the team with the best record in the major leagues against the team with the worst record. The truth is however that even the best team in the league will win only about 65-percent of their games in a given year, meaning that 35-percent of the time players that wager on the favorite will lose.

The best way to win when baseball sports betting is to play the underdogs, but to do so by picking your spots. Even if you win less than half of your total bets betting on the team expected to lose, because of the odds you will still end up making a profit. Players can also play the run line, which increases the chances of winning when wagering on the underdog, and even though it decreases the potential winnings, it is still a more sure outcome.
