One of the best forms of online betting when it comes to baseball is the parlay. In essence the parlay bet is one in which you get to wager on a number of teams at the same time. However, parlays also have their drawbacks as you will receive a smaller payout by the end, depending on how many teams you wager upon.
For instance, three team parlays have six to one payouts while two team parlays have 10 to one payouts. But how exactly does a parlay appear?
In essence, a parlay bet is when you select multiple teams, and transfer the winnings of one game to wager on another. Most online sportsbooks will allow you to parlay bet on up to 10 teams. However the more teams you include in your parlay, the lower the payout. Here is how a two team parlay would look.
A bettor wants to parlay the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres. The Braves are a – 200 over the Florida Marlins, while the Padres are a +110 against the LA Dodgers. If the bettor is to wager $50 on the parlay, this means they would place $50 on the Braves to win. Now if the Braves win the bettors $50 then transfer to the Padres at $75. Two possibilities can occur in this scenario.
First, if the Padres beat the Dodgers, the bettor will win $157.50 because both bets in the parlay were made winners. However if the Padres lose, than the bettor loses both bets, regardless of the Braves victory because they were in the parlay with the Padres.
Parlays are most affective when they are played by bettors with low budgets, as they have the possibility for higher payouts at smaller plays. Conversely, in order for the parlay to be worthwhile for a bettor with a big budget they would have to parlay more than two teams.
Baseball Revenge System
Baseball betting fans have come to love the revenge systems as in such a long season there is plenty to go around. In essence when MLB betting, fans and experts alike have seen a wide array of patterns develop between teams. Teams go from competitors to arch rivals in a matter of months. As the season progresses revenge becomes a bigger factor when two arch rivals play each other. Here is a look at two different revenge systems which have become favorites for many handicappers to use. 1. Short Term Revenge – Since the regular season is 162 games long, it is fair to assume that no team will go undefeated. In sports such as football and to an extent basketball being undefeated is a greater possibility. However in baseball, because the season is so long, it can sometimes appear that teams are not giving a full effort. Short term revenge, essentially takes place when a home team favorite loses a game they had a lead in. Basically, the team returns from a long road trip and plays a weaker opponent, and after going up by a few runs loses the game to the weaker opponent because they did not give a full effort. Our belief is that in the very next game, the home team will give a much better effort and win the game. This is exacting short term revenge. In order for this system to work, we need the home team to once again be favored in the game we expect them to win. 2. Long Term Revenge – Long term revenge occurs, when a team that got swept earlier in the season takes one or all of the games in the next series against the team that swept them earlier. For example, the Toronto Blue Jays were swept by the Cleveland Indians in June, which absolutely killed any momentum the Jays had of staying in the playoff race.
This coming weekend however the Jays finally get to face the Indians again. When betting on this series, we need the Jays to take at least one of the games if not all of them in order for long term revenge to work.
Baseball Betting Can Be As Easy As Day And Night
The concept behind the betting on MLB strategy made sense, as it was based on that batters would have an easier time seeing the ball during the day, and with the air not as heavy, the ball would carry easier and make for higher scoring games. Night contests were to the contrary however, as it would be harder for batters to see the ball under the lights of the stadium, and therefore their would be fewer quality hits. The air would also be heavier, so when the batters connected the ball wouldn’t carry as well. The system, like most others, would be useful given the realistic premise that it is based on, and included notable additional situations such as betting based on the pitching. That strategy called for even less runs to be hit during the night when heavy throwing pitchers were on the mound, regardless of how good they were. It would be even harder for batters to catch up to fast pitches, as their swings would definitely be heavier at night. |
Betting Pitching Not A Wise Choice
A look at past baseball betting results will prove this formula. For example, in 2008 the top-ten scoring teams in the MLB had a combined record of 873-748. In comparison, the bottom-ten scoring teams had a combined record of 735-882. So by contrast even though the lower scoring teams may have in fact had the better starting pitcher on the mound for more starts than the higher scoring teams, they would have still lost more games. The bottom-ten scoring teams will win only 45-percent of their games, while the top-ten scoring teams will win 54.2-percent of their games, a trend that can help players make a profit on baseball.
Baseball Betting Easy Once You Discover How To Do It Right
The best way to win when baseball sports betting is to play the underdogs, but to do so by picking your spots. Even if you win less than half of your total bets betting on the team expected to lose, because of the odds you will still end up making a profit. Players can also play the run line, which increases the chances of winning when wagering on the underdog, and even though it decreases the potential winnings, it is still a more sure outcome.
